Happy New Year – a message to our loyal customers

January 1st, 2009

Please read the following message from our President, Lisa Roberts.

Hello to all who have posted! Thanks for your comments. This year of 2008 has been such a whirlwind.

I thank you all for trying Cosmos products and sharing with family and friends. Being that we are still a young business, we have a lot to learn. We always invite you to respond truthfully and we will do our best to improve our service to you all.

If you have direct questions, please email me rather than posting here. You can reach me at lisa(at)cosmoscaramelcorn.com. Also, to let you know why we use (at) instead of @, it keeps junk from getting into my mailbox! I know you can all appreciate that.

We are looking to add some new flavors in 2009, keep watch and keep emailing me!

Best wishes to you all this blessed holiday season.

Thanks for making Cosmos so popular!

September 18th, 2008

Following our debut on national television last month, QVC decided they wanted us back for additional appearances because Cosmos has been such a hit with their viewers.

We’re very excited that so many people are tasting our snacks for the first time, but we also want our loyal customers to know we haven’t forgotten about them. We’re trying to process and fulfill orders as fast as we possibly can, however, at this time, we cannot guarantee that orders will go out immediately after they are placed. Rest assured, though, that we’ll get your order out and in the mail within ten days.

If you are ordering Cosmos for a birthday, anniversary, or other occasion, be sure to place your order well in advance so we can get it out to you before your special day arrives.

We recommend ordering at least two weeks in advance.

We also want you to know that we are working to ramp up production of Cosmos so we can meet demand. Growing so fast is a challenge!

Again, thank you for making us so popular. Planetary Food Group wouldn’t be where it is today without your business.

Cosmos sells out in seconds on TV

August 16th, 2008

If you were watching home shopping channel QVC earlier this afternoon, you probably saw our founder, Lisa Roberts, on air showcasing four Cosmos flavors for viewers – original Cosmos, Grandma’s Secret Cosmos, Big Bang Butter Corn, and CosmoNuts.

In the final seconds of the presentation, QVC announced that their supply of Cosmos had completely sold out. We’re delighted that so many people enjoy our gourmet snacks, and we invite you to try Cosmos if you haven’t already. it’s a delicious oven baked corn with no hulls and no kernels, perfect for dessert, a midafternoon treat, or any occassion.

If you’ve come up with a creative way to enjoy Cosmos, let us know – we want to hear about it!

More ways to enjoy Cosmos

August 1st, 2008

If you’re a loyal Planetary Food Group customer, you know Cosmos makes an excellent snack right out of the bag. But there are other ways to enjoy Cosmos, too. Our flagship flavor makes an excellent cheesecake crust, for instance. All you have to do is crush and press into the pan – it already has plenty of butter.

If you’re looking for something to go with your frozen dessert, give Cosmos a try. Preheat your oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, place some caramel corn in the oven on a baking tray, and warm for ten minutes. Cosmos makes a great ice cream topper!

If you’ve thought of a creative way to enjoy Cosmos, we want to hear about it. Leave a comment here or contact us with your suggestions – we’ll share the best ones with other customers.

The latest in a series of improvements to the Planetary Food Group website is nearly complete.

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed that the News section – our company blog – now has a design, or look and feel, that properly matches the rest of this website.

It’s our goal to deliver a consistent and friendly user experience to our customers, with every page graced by the reassuring presence of our legendary Cosmos diamond logo and starry skyscrape.

More updates are coming, so don’t hesitate to check back in!

Introducing Grandma’s Secret Cosmos

July 29th, 2008

We’re pleased today to announce a new name for Lighter Side of the Cosmos, the Cosmos flavor with less butter and sugar than our original snack: Grandma’s Secret Cosmos.

The new name pays tribute to beloved Grandmother Semolke, whose family recipe for caramel corn served as the inspiration for Cosmos, the tasty treat you’ve come to know and love. Every great cook has a great teacher, and our founder Lisa Roberts is no exception. Baking the best goodies is simply part of our family’s tradition, and this is a wonderful way to honor our history of innovation in the kitchen.

Always remember, we hope you enjoy eating Cosmos as much as we enjoy making it. Happy snacking!

Cosmos review on Sustainlane

May 25th, 2008

Review Cris G writes:

Oh My Gosh…I don’t even have a sweet tooth, but once I start eating Cosmos Carmel Corn, I want more; I can’t stop. Made locally, using the family’s original slow-bake recipe, and using only the freshest ingredients including butter from a local dairy, Cosmos Carmel Corn is the best caramel corn I’ve ever tasted. Really. These large oven-baked bites of buttery, caramelized corn are delicious and crunchy, but free from the hulls and kernels that you typically find in popped-corm products. Planetary Food Group offers other products as well, and provides fund raising opportunities with their products.

Thanks, Cris! Happy snacking!

Rolling out Version 2.1 of the website

March 1st, 2008

Nearly two months ago, we launched the second version of the Cosmos website, with a completely revamped design and user interface.

Because some areas of the website – notably the store locator and new e-storefront require sophisticated software, we’re still working to bring those online. But today, we’re rolling out an update to the new site that fixes some bugs with the interface.

Visually, there isn’t much of a difference with the changes. But a lot has been improved under the hood – what we’ve done is equivalent to rebuilding the engine of the car. You can’t see the engine looking at the exterior of the car, but fine-tuned parts make all the difference in the car’s performance.

There are a few improvements you’ll be able to spot, though. The white space between the left and right sidebars on the front page has been removed. And the sidebars and the main content no longer look jagged on any pages – all the columns are equal height.

The blue starry background is also new; it’s derived from an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and released into the public domain. The stars are real, folks – not created by a graphics program.

More improvements are on the way – stay tuned to the News section for updates.

Nicole Weston reviews Cosmos

March 1st, 2008

Nicole Weston, who writes a cool blog called Baking Bites, has published a review of Planetary Food Group’s original Cosmos flavor. Here’s an excerpt:

I liked it both warmed and at room temperature, and enjoyed the light crunchiness of the product. It was quite sweet, so I could only eat a few pieces at a time. That said, I have to admit that there is no way I would have immediately identified this as “caramel corn” if I hadn’t seen the packaging. But it’s a tasty snack nevertheless, and you might even get some entertainment out of it if you serve it to friends and try to have them guess what it is they’re eating!

Read the whole review at Nicole’s site.
